چکیده

Ageing is a complex process that greatly influenced by environmental and genetic factors. at the cellular molecular level characterized accumulation of post-translationally modified proteins are derogative to cells, termed Degenerative protein modification (DPM). A particular class DPM, occurring under impact urea, brain ureido degenerative post-translational modifications (uDPM) has also been implicated in pathogenesis Alzheimer's disease related neurodegenerative disorders. These can disrupt normal functions altering their conformation, enzymatic activities, receptor recognitions, physiological capabilities. Carbamylation an age-related uDPM results from non-enzymatic amino groups ε-amino on lysine proteins. The significance carbamylation some disorders such as cataracts, rheumatoid arthritis, and cardiovascular diseases well documented. However, role various disorders, which age-dependent, not explored much. aim current article retrospection carbamylation, its effect proteins, implications ageing diseases. one uDPM, lysines or N-terminal present peptides isocyanate. arthritis, documented. However, This mini-review will focus relationship between provide overview contribution towards protein, involvement neurodegeneration associated with ageing.

Exercise for Neurodegeneration-Related Disorders

Neurodenerative processes associated with ageing or retarded normal neurodevelopment compromise several domains of health, well-being and the functional capacity of individuals, particularly those of advanced age. Physical exercise has provided a plethora of improvements in functional capacity, neurocognitive ability, neuroaffective status and brain plasticity. Despite all these achievements, f...

Protein Carbamylation and Cardiovascular Disease

Carbamylation constitutes a posttranslational modification of proteins or amino acids and results from different pathways in vivo. First is the non-enzymatic reaction between isocyanic acid, a decomposition product of urea, and either the N-terminus or the ɛ-amino group of lysine residues. Isocyanic acid levels, while low in vivo, are in equilibrium with urea and are thus increased in chronic a...

Age-Related Neurodegeneration and Memory Loss in Down Syndrome

Down syndrome (DS) is a condition where a complete or segmental chromosome 21 trisomy causes variable intellectual disability, and progressive memory loss and neurodegeneration with age. Many research groups have examined development of the brain in DS individuals, but studies on age-related changes should also be considered, with the increased lifespan observed in DS. DS leads to pathological ...

The role of autophagy in age-related neurodegeneration.

Most age-related neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by accumulation of aberrant protein aggregates in affected brain regions. In many cases, these proteinaceous deposits are composed of ubiquitin conjugates, suggesting a failure in the clearance of proteins targeted for degradation. The 2 principal routes of intracellular protein catabolism are the ubiquitin proteasome system and the ...
